Tom started running marathons in 2003 and competing in triathlons in 2004. Highlights include a 1st place in the White's Lake Half-Ironman (2005), a 2nd place in the B&A Trail Marathon (2004) and a top 10 in the ChesapeakeMan Ironman that same year. A running injury put an end to his multi-sport career in 2005 which is also when he started racing for the University of Maryland. He graduated with a degree in Economics while balancing a full-time racing schedule. Fast forward to 2013 and he has amassed multiple USA Crit and Superweek wins along with podiums in National Racing Calendar events and State Championships. His lead-out abilities have put sprinters on the podium in the Tour of California, Alberta, Korea, USA Pro Challenge, Castilla y Leon and the top step of the US PRO Criterium Championships.
